Bazley Beach is a very quiet area, situated 80 kilometres south of Durban. The small community is off the beaten track with unspoilt, quiet beaches and abundant bird life, and is best suited to those wishing to escape busy city life. The only commercial development is a cafe at MacNicols Caravan Park; however a supermarket and chemist can be located at Pennington 15km away.
Dining Out A variety of good places to eat out ranging from snacks and take-aways to fine dining are available to feed the inner soul: in Scottburgh alone (19.2 km from Bazley Beach) you can choose to dine at the Atlanta Spur in the Scottburgh Mall or head on down to Marine Terrace near the beach and choose from the Mozam Prawn Shack, the C-Breeze Restaurant or the Bell & Anchor, depending on your mood.

The beach is a 600m walk away and can be reached via a foot path from the bottom of the garden, which takes you over a little bridge, the road and railway line. Alternatively, one can take a five-minute drive to Ndasingane beach, which is an exclusive beach (permit provided) offering an ideal playground for snorkelling, surfing and angling. The protected bay offers ideal swimming conditions for children and the numerous rock pools offer hours of amusement.

The course of 18 holes is over truly striking terrain, with the front 9 running alongside the sea and the back nine stretching inland through dense indigenous forest vegetation.

Wild coastal forest frames a superbly manicured course where the only disturbance may be one of nature’s creatures.
Fun Parks in Hibberdene (16.8 km from Bazley Beach) Get tubular with a fresh rush of water and take a slide down the Hibberdene Super Tube. Enjoy a nice day out with the whole family at Jolly Rogers. This small funs park is located on the main beach and offers super tubes, mini golf and a restaurant and bar, all with incredible sea views. There is a jungle gym for the kids to play while the grown-ups have a relaxing meal
Take a trip to Crocworld where over 10 000 crocodiles as well as raptors, snakes, tortoises, waterbirds and flamingos can be seen in a beautiful natural setting. A tree house enables the viewing of indigenous and exotic wildlife including monkeys and parrots. Make sure the visit coincides with one of the feeding times at 11am and 3pm daily. Guests wishing to eat at the beautiful Le Rendez-Vous Restaurant do not pay the entrance fee unless they wish to access the park.

With hundreds of bird species, Vernon Crookes Nature Reserve is a twitchers delight as well as a stunning place to chill out in nature for the day. This ‘island’ of coastal evergreen forest, bush and grassland mosaic, streams, dams, marshes in a ‘sea’ of sugarcane, gum plantations and tribal lands. This 2 139 ha oasis is home to over 300 bird species.
Sezela Sugar Mill (11.1 km from Bazley Beach)
Sugar cane farming is an essential part of the agricultural sector of the Umdoni area. Factory tours of the Sezela Sugar Mill, which was established by the Reynolds Brothers in 1914, can be organised between April and November. A minimum of 12 people per booking are required. Tours are held every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
